Alcoa Donates to Training Facility Campaign Print
GIFT FROM ALCOA PUTS RHS ABC OVER TRAINING FACILITY CAMPAIGN GOAL!

RHS
Thanks to Alcoa for their generation donation to the RHS ABC in support of our campaign to renovate the training facility at RHS.  In particular, we woud like to recognize the efforts of RHS Alumnus and future Eagle parent Dave Brown in securing this grant.  With this donation and the support of our parent boosters, we have raised over $18,000 to improve the training facilities at RHS, Westwood Junior High and West Junior High.  Thanks to all of you who participated in this campaign for making a positive impact on every student athlete at RHS.

Here is the press release issued in connection with this grant:

The RHS Athletic Booster Club recently received a $10,000 assist thanks to the efforts of Alcoa Inc. businesses operating in the Dallas area.

This grant was made to support the activities of the RHS Athletic Booster Club according to David G. Brown (RHS ’84), manager of the Kawneer Service Center in Irving.  “We were fortunate to have an extra opportunity to help our community, so Kay Tracy of the Alcoa Rolled Products office in Richardson, Jason Whitehouse of Alcoa’s Electric and Electronic Solutions facility in Farmers Branch, and I joined forces to try to help.  As a result, the Booster Club has more funds to improve the fitness facilities for the school children at Richardson High School, West Junior High, and Westwood Junior High”.

Brown and Ms. Tracy recently presented the $10,000 check to the organization.  In addition Alcoa also gave $3,000 to the RHS Eagles Rising Program in 2008.   This campaign to tutor student athletes after hours was supported by Mr. Brown, Mr. Franklin Byrd, and Athletic Director Brent Whitson. This resulted in the failure rate decreasing by an incredible 78% in just one year.

Brown said, “Alcoa and its employees continue to give back to our community through the outreach of our employees.  The Athletic Booster Club at Richardson High School has proven that they truly care about the fitness and education of our children attending RHS and the junior highs that feed into it.  This is support we are proud to give.”
